Seasons in the Park

Gazing out at the beautiful scenery below me, I cannot imagine being anywhere else. The perfume from the vividly-clored flowers and the radiating sun shining above leave me in awe at how beautiful of a city Vancouver is. It’s mesmerizing. That’s why, despite the fact that there are better dining options nearby, it’s still popular because there is no alternative for a view as spectacular as this one. Exploring their recently changed lunch menu, which wasn’t much, I found myself leaving with the same thoughts from last time. Not excited or captivated by any particular dish. Simply speaking, don’t expect to leave here experiencing one of the best dishes of your life, even with such pricing. Though, that could just be my opinion… It’s a decent choice for special occasions, but it’s more for those who happen to need a little “pick-me-up” after a long stroll. The best dish was the carbonara, which was luxurious without being sickly. With that said, I would have resorted to somewhere else with the price tag since then, the pasta would also be made in house. 20140614-145614-53774677.jpg

Pizza Margherita
bocconcini, vine ripened tomatoes, basil 15
Could have passed on this one. Nothing memorable for me.

Seafood Linguine Carbonara
bacon, prawns, snapper, scallops 22
Much more seafood than my previous experience. The best dish we ordered.

Steamed Mussels
white wine, tomatoes, garlic, fresh herbs 15
Fragrant broth and adequate amount of mussels.

Feature Sandwich

Sounded better than it tasted, but fries were good.

Seasons in the Park

Regarded as one of the best patio spots Vancouver has to offer, Seasons at the Park holds many childhood memories for me and my family. It’s a wonderful location to bring loved ones, especially during the warmer months as you can dine while gazing at the wicked view. There is also the option to go on a stroll afterwards and explore the serenity of mother nature.20130509-225618.jpgThe patio I believe has been recently refurnished as the furniture has more of a modern-vibe now.20130509-225623.jpgThe bread here is complimentary and provided by Terra Breads. It’s served warm and the bread has a delicious crispy shell that I love.20130509-225633.jpgThe Wok Squid is nothing spectacular and reminds me of something you can order for dim sum at Chinese restaurants. 20130509-225645.jpgI ordered the Vegetarian Tasting Board simply because all the tables around me had one and there’s something classy and captivating from the presentation of it. If you weren’t too hungry and just happened to be near the area, this is a great snack to choose. They also have other selections like cheese, charcuterie, and seafood but this one in particular had hummus, caponata, olives, gherkins, artichokes, grilled asparagus, almonds & cashews. There was nothing that stood out to me in terms of flavour as everything could be easily assembled at home, but it’s a nice little in between meal while you socialize with friends.20130509-225628.jpg
This is by far my favourite out of their choices and it’s the Shrimp Pizza. I might be biased as I am a huge fan of mascarpone, but the spiciness and creaminess of the cheese was the perfect spread for the simple and light ingredients on top. The dough was also very chewy and didn’t emit a strong yeast flavour which I liked. The shrimp was flavourless however, and seemed like it was previously frozen, but the small size  was the perfect biting size. 20130509-225651.jpgIt would seriously be a no-no if you didn’t order dessert at Seasons. All of their options have been a winner in my book, especially their seasonal cheesecake flavours. I’ve had the Chocolate Cake multiple times and it’s always a solid option whenever I am in need of a sugar fix. The decadent layers of the chocolate mousse and cake and the smooth chocolate ganache coating makes it not only an exquisite dessert to look at, but also gorge on.
