Cafe Pacifica Christmas Eve Buffet

Each year as a family tradition, my family and I gather to celebrate the holidays at a hotel buffet. Since we have already been to Yew, Hotel Georgia, Sutton Place, and Oru, we decided to try Cafe Pacifica. It is always sold out pretty early on, so we had high hopes for our visit. Especially with a price tag of $99 per person, tax rounding it to $120, we anticipated a spectacular ambiance and an array of high-quality food to choose from. 20131231-095948.jpgCharcuterie and cheese 20131231-095956.jpgSalads using mostly ingredients sourced from local farmers20131231-100009.jpgDessert bar20131231-100018.jpgPetit fours and chocolate yule log20131231-100027.jpgCloser look at the desserts20131231-100036.jpg

The only photos that aren’t displayed is from the hot service bar where they served lobster bisque, turkey, and some other hot entrees.

As you can see, there wasn’t an abundance of food served. Easily, we managed to sample most of the food offered there since there really wasn’t much to choose from after returning for seconds. I was quite disappointed to say the least because I was hoping for a much grander experience than I had. Though the food wasn’t bad, with some entrees like their sablefish and quail being delicious, I found that it was not worth the hefty price tag. The entertainment was not visible from our seating either so we were unable to enjoy it (along with most party groups). Personally, I would have much preferred  a home cooked meal with treats from my favourite bakeries, but that isn’t to say I didn’t enjoy my time here. The ambiance and company I had that night was what made the night spectacular, regardless of the food.
